About the script
Sylheti Nagri was used for centuries to write Sylheti poetry, puthi literature and Sufi texts. Printing presses in Sylhet and elsewhere kept it alive until the twentieth century. It was added to the Unicode standard in 2005, so today it can be typed and shared on any modern phone.
Each consonant carries the vowel "o" unless a vowel sign changes it, much like Bengali and other scripts of the region.
